When a player reaches 100 points, the game ends, and the final score is calculated based on the amount of points acquired, the winner's bonus and the line bonus. Points are given based on deadwood points, with bonuses given for undercutting, going gin and being the first to reach 100 points. If the player chooses to do so, the knocker and their opponent have to show their cards, and the opponent may lay off deadwood cards against the knocker's melds.

Once they've picked up a card, they must pick a card from their hand to discard.Īfter discarding, if a player has 10 deadwood points or fewer on their hand, they're allowed to 'knock'. The two players take turns either picking up the face-up card or an unknown card from the deck.

Face cards are worth 10 points as well.Īt the start of the game, each player is dealt 10 cards, and a single card is dealt face-up on the table. Cards are ranked from Ace, being worth 1 point, to 10, being worth 10 points. The aim of each player is to form melds, either as sets or runs and minimize deadwood cards in their hands. The game's objective is to be the first person to reach 100 points. If all you're looking for is to refresh your memory, look no further.
